The rss feeds on this page are updated automatically every hour by there various suppliers (mostly Yahoo and Google) so is well worth bookmarking if you like to read about current News and Technology. Many of the news items published here are less than one hour old. Enjoy…

  • Holier than thou? Rio's Christ statue has rival (Reuters) - Reuters - A little-known Brazilian farming town with sugar cane wealth is set to upstage Rio de Janeiro by erecting a statue of Christ that will eclipse its famous equivalent atop Rio's Corcovado mountain.
  • Man finds live mortar shell in grandpa's things (AP) - AP - A Colorado man sorting through his late grandfather's belongings found a bombshell, sort of: A live mortar round from the Korean War era. A bomb squad detonated the shell at an undisclosed site. No one was hurt. Police said Monday the grandson discovered the shell in a firearms cabinet at his grandfather's home just outside Greeley on Friday.
  • Cops probing sewer problem sniff out pot operation (AP) - AP - Deputies investigating a sewer problem at a Minnesota home smelled something amiss — a strong odor of marijuana. Grant County Sheriff Dwight Walvatne said deputies went to the home in Herman this week intending to cite the owner for failing to connect to the city's main sewer line, in violation of a public health ordinance.
  • Bolivia's Morales to launch state-run daily paper (Reuters) - Reuters - Leftist Bolivian President Evo Morales said on Sunday he would launch a state-run daily newspaper later this month, saying the paper would act as a counterbalance to the "anti-government" local media.

    Virgen Maria Huarcaya holds her baby son named Jesus, in Lima December 25, 2008.
